Introduction
SEO Lens, an on-page SEO analyzer ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome Extension collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you use our service.
Use of the extension implies consent to the practices described in this policy.
Data Collection and Usage
A. Website Content Data (Local Processing)
When you trigger the extension to audit a web page, the extension temporarily accesses and analyzes the Document Object Model (DOM) of the current active tab. We collect the following data points for the sole purpose of generating the SEO Audit Report:
- Page Metadata: Title tags, meta descriptions, canonical tags, and robots meta tags.
- Content Structure: Headings (H1-H6), word count, and text content for keyword density analysis.
- Media: Image URLs and "alt" text attributes.
- Links: Internal, external, and broken link destinations.
- Technical Details: Helper scripts, tracking codes (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel), and structured data (JSON-LD).
- Contact Information: Publicly visible email addresses, phone numbers, and WhatsApp links found on the page.
Privacy Note: This data is processed locally within your browser. We do not transmit the content of the websites you analyze to any external servers or databases owned by us.
B. Usage Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how users interact with our extension and to improve its functionality. This data is collected anonymously.
What we track:
- Interaction Events: Clicks on features (e.g., "popup_opened", "generate_pdf", "social_profile_clicked").
- Technical Data: Browser version, operating system, and geographic region.
- Client Identification: We generate a random, unique identifier (ga_client_id) which is stored in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local).
- Hostnames: We may track the hostname (domain) of the website being analyzed to understand aggregate usage patterns (e.g., "Which sites are most frequently audited?").
